Activation of an eSIM Line with Tourist International eSIM Plan

THESE TERMS APPLY TO ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO PURCHASE AND USE THE SERVICES OFFERED THROUGH AN eSIM ON A PREPAID BASIS, INCLUDING ANY THIRD PARTY MAKING USE OF THE ASSOCIATED SERVICE, WHETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE READ THESE TERMS. YOU AGREE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY USE MADE BY YOU OR THIRD PARTIES.

BY PROCEEDING WITH THE PURCHASE, INSTALLATION, LINE REGISTRATION, OR USE OF THE SERVICE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE TOURIST INTERNATIONAL eSIM SERVICE. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE SERVICE, DO NOT PURCHASE THE SERVICE, DO NOT INSTALL THE eSIM ON YOUR DEVICE, AND DO NOT CLICK "ACCEPT."

Purchase of an eSIM Line and Tourist International eSIM Service

To purchase a new eSIM line with the Tourist International eSIM plan, scan the QR code included in our advertising or visit: https://www.telcel.com/travel-to-mexico/esim-english.

Through the Mi eSIM Telcel portal, Telcel will make available new eSIM lines that include the Tourist International plan, as well as the option to purchase additional plans for your active lines.

By proceeding with the purchase, you confirm that you have an unlocked device compatible with Telcel's network and eSIM technology. We recommend verifying your device's compatibility before purchasing a Tourist International eSIM line.

When purchasing a Tourist International eSIM plan, you acquire a prepaid line and have up to one year from the purchase date to install and activate the eSIM on your device. If the eSIM has not been installed and activated within this period, the service will no longer be available.

Once installed, the line must be registered in your name before you can use the services. Registration can be completed at: https://registro.telcel.com/vinculatulinea/.

eSIM Installation and Data Plan Activation

Install your Tourist International eSIM line on your device once you arrive at your destination. Please refer to the Coverage section to find out which countries are included in each plan.

The Tourist International eSIM plan activation and the start of the validity period occur once the eSIM has been installed on your device.

    eSIM Installation Methods:

    1. Click the "Install" button for your operating system (Android or iOS), sent to your email at the time of purchase, using a device compatible with eSIM technology.
    2. Scan the QR code sent to your email at the time of purchase or available in the Mi eSIM Telcel portal, using a device compatible with eSIM technology.

IMPORTANT: TO INSTALL THE eSIM, YOUR DEVICE MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET VIA A WIFI NETWORK, BE COMPATIBLE WITH TELCEL'S NETWORK AND eSIM TECHNOLOGY, AND HAVE SUFFICIENT STORAGE SPACE. IF YOU HAVE TWO OR MORE eSIM PROFILES ALREADY INSTALLED, WE RECOMMEND DELETING ONE OF THEM TO ENSURE A SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION.

eSIM Line Registration and Tourist International eSIM Service

To activate and use your line with the Tourist International eSIM service, you must register the line in your name at: https://registro.telcel.com/vinculatulinea/.

To complete the registration, you must have already installed the eSIM line on a device that is compatible with eSIM technology and unlocked for use with any carrier.

You will be asked to grant camera access on your device to capture your valid passport and complete a liveness check, in order to verify your identity and validate your documentation.

You will have up to three attempts to complete the registration. If you are unable to complete it successfully, you may contact us toll-free at 800 8232 686 from Mexico, select option 4 and then option 0 for personalized assistance; from abroad, dial +52 (55) 2581 3300, option 1, or visit a Telcel Customer Service Center to complete the process.

If you do not register the line, you will not be able to use the associated services.

    General Terms

If the eSIM with the Tourist International eSIM plan was correctly installed and activated, but is subsequently deleted from the device, you may reinstall it on the same device by scanning the QR code or using the installation button sent to the email address registered at the time of purchase. You will have up to two additional attempts to reinstall the eSIM on the same device.

Once these attempts have been used, the process cannot be repeated, as both installation methods will become unavailable. In this case, you must request a SIM change by contacting Customer Service or visiting a Telcel Customer Service Center.

    Payment Terms

Payment will be processed by a service provider authorized by Telcel. We recommend reviewing the payment processor's information and Privacy Notice before completing your purchase.

During the payment process, you may choose to save your payment method under the management of the service provider (payment processor). This will allow your payment information to be automatically retrieved in future purchases through the Mi eSIM Telcel portal, without the need to re-enter it.

You may delete your payment method at any time. Saved payment information cannot be modified; if you need to make any changes, you must delete the existing payment method and register a new one.

    Coverage

The Tourist International eSIM 20 and Tourist International eSIM 30 plans can be used in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

The Tourist International eSIM 30 LATAM plan can be used in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, as well as the following Latin American countries: United States (including Alaska, Hawaii, Florida Keys, U.S. Virgin Islands —Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas— and Puerto Rico), Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador (including the Galápagos Islands), El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.

Outside of the countries and territories listed above, the line will have no service or availability for data, voice, or messaging.

    Fair Use Policy (FUP)

The Fair Use Policy (FUP) is a speed regulation that applies to plans with unlimited data. Its purpose is to prevent network congestion, ensuring that all users can enjoy a stable and quality browsing experience.

Users will browse at the highest available bandwidth, based on the technology available in their coverage area and network traffic levels, until reaching the data threshold established under the Fair Use Policy for their contracted plan.

If this threshold is reached before the end of the plan's validity period, the user may continue browsing without limits for the remainder of the contracted period, at a maximum browsing speed of 512 Kbps (kilobits per second).

This speed reduction does not imply any restriction or limitation on access to applications, services, content, or websites. Users may continue browsing, using their apps, downloading content, and accessing any website of their choice.

Browsing speed can be restored by purchasing a new Tourist International eSIM plan, once again allowing the use of the highest available bandwidth until the corresponding data threshold is reached.

Some applications and online services (such as online gaming or audio and video streaming) require a minimum bandwidth to function properly. We recommend checking the technical requirements of any application before purchasing a plan.

For better control of your data usage, we suggest using the Mi eSIM Telcel management portal.

    Refund and Return Policy

You may request a full refund in the following cases, provided that the specific requirements are met and the request is made within 10 calendar days of purchase:

o    You were charged but the eSIM was not correctly installed on the device due to technical failures or system issues.

o    The eSIM plan is not active.

    ·         A refund does not apply if:

o    The eSIM plan is active and has been or is currently being used.

o    The issue is related to the device (incompatibility, carrier lock, maximum number of installed eSIMs reached, etc.).

o    The purchase was not made through official channels (https://www.telcel.com/travel-to-mexico/esim-english or Mi eSIM Telcel).

o    You deleted the eSIM without completing the installation.

o    The issue is due to device incompatibility with Telcel's network or eSIM technology.

o    The line is pre-active (not yet installed, registered, or used).

o    The charge was successfully processed.

    ·         A refund does not apply if:

o    The eSIM has been installed and the line is active.

o    You have used the benefits of the eSIM plan (data).

o    The request is made after 10 calendar days of purchase.

IMPORTANT: IF THE eSIM INSTALLATION PROCESS WITH THE TOURIST INTERNATIONAL eSIM PLAN IS NOT COMPLETED CORRECTLY USING THE QR CODE OR THE INSTALLATION BUTTON, OR IF THE eSIM PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED ON YOUR DEVICE WITH AN ACTIVE PLAN IS DELETED, NO REFUND — EITHER FULL OR PARTIAL — WILL BE PROCESSED.

Refunds will not be issued for unrecognized charges; these must be reported directly to the corresponding financial institution.

To report any issue, you may contact us toll-free at 800 8232 686 from Mexico, select option 4 and then option 0 for personalized assistance; from abroad, dial +52 (55) 2581 3300, option 1.

You will need to provide the email address used for the purchase, your order number, your full name, and the amount of the plan purchased.

Refunds will be processed within 1 to 10 business days, depending on the financial institution used for the purchase.

In any refund process, the line associated with the eSIM will be canceled.

Line Validity for Tourist International eSIM Service

The following policy applies to all prepaid lines associated with the Tourist International eSIM service:

    1. Start of Validity Period

The eSIM line will be considered active from the date the user installs the eSIM on their device. This date will be considered Day 1 of the line's validity period.

    2. Line Validity Period (90 days)

The line will have a validity period of 90 (ninety) calendar days from the date of activation. During this period, the user may purchase as many Tourist International eSIM plans as needed.

    3. Extension Through an Active Plan

If the user purchases a plan before the end of Day 90 of the line's validity period, the line will remain active until the end of that plan's validity period, even if it extends beyond Day 90. Once the last contracted plan expires, the line will be automatically canceled.

    Data Usage and Plan Coexistence

If the user purchases a new plan while an existing one is still active, both plans will retain their own validity periods.

Data will be consumed in the order in which the plans were purchased: the high-speed data from the active plan will be used first; once depleted, the data from the next purchased plan will begin to be used.

The user will browse at maximum speed as long as high-speed data is available, whether under the Fair Use Policy (FUP) of an unlimited plan or within the data allowance of a fixed-data plan. If an unlimited plan has reached its maximum-speed data threshold under the FUP, and another plan with available high-speed data exists, the system will use the latter, allowing maximum-speed browsing again until it is depleted.

The use of each plan will depend on its included coverage. If the user is in a country not covered by the active plan, the system will use the next purchased plan that includes coverage in that country, if one exists.

Purchasing a new plan does not extend, reset, or modify the validity period of previously purchased plans. Each plan retains its own start and end date.

    What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital chip built into your device that lets you activate a data plan instantly - no physical SIM card is needed. Convenient, fast, and perfect to stay connected, especially while you’re traveling.

    Is my device eSIM compatible?

Finding out is quick and easy - it only takes a few seconds. Check the list of  compatible models here or verify it directly on your device using one of these  methods:

    1. Dial a code

Dial *#06# from your phone's dialer app. If an EID code is displayed on the screen, your device supports eSIM. This works for both Android and iOS devices.

    2. Check your device settings

    iPhone:

Go to Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data). If you see the option “Add eSIM”, then your iPhone is compatible.

    Android:

Go to Settings → Connections → SIM Manager. If you see the option “Add eSIM”, then your device is compatible.

If you're still not sure, check directly with your device's manufacturer.

Is my device unlocked to use Telcel's eSIM?

To find out if your device is unlocked, check the following:

    ·         If you bought your phone directly from the manufacturer (Apple, Samsung, etc.), it's most likely unlocked. If you got it through a carrier (T-Mobile, Verizon, Orange, Vodafone, etc.), it may be locked to that carrier only.

    ·         Insert a SIM card from a different carrier. If you can make a call or send a text message, your device is unlocked and ready to use with another carrier.

    ·         iPhone only: Go to Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock to confirm whether your device is unlocked.> Carrier Lock. There you can check if your device is unlocked.

Where can I buy a Telcel Tourist eSIM?

You can easily get one at our official website telcel.com or through the Mi eSIM Telcel portal if you are already a Telcel user.

Didn't receive your eSIM purchase confirmation?

If you can't find the email with your receipt in your inbox or spam folder, get in touch with us:

    ·         Toll-free from Mexico: dial 800 8232 686 and select option 4, then option 0.

    ·         From abroad: dial +52 55 2581 3300 and select option 1.

To speed things up, have the following information ready: your purchase email address, the name of the plan you bought, and your order number, which was provided at the end of your purchase.

Didn't receive your eSIM activation email?

No worries! Log in  to the Mi eSIM Telcel portal to get your QR code and install your eSIM. All you need is the email address you used to make your purchase and the validation code you'll receive there.

Why do I need to register my line with my personal information?

As required by Mexican telecom regulators, effective since January 9, 2026, all mobile lines in Mexico must be registered under their user's name. This includes Tourist eSIMs.

To complete your registration, all you need is a valid government-issued photo ID, such as your passport. It's a mandatory process, quick to complete, and helps keep all users safe.

What happens if I don’t register my line?

If you don't complete the registration, you won't be able to use your line. It's essential that you finish this process before you can start  using the service.

Keep in mind that your plan's validity and benefits starts at the moment you install the eSIM on your device, so we recommend completing the registration as soon as possible to make the most of your data plan.

How do I register my Tourist eSIM?

Register easily here. Have your Telcel number and a valid government-issued photo ID ready, and follow the steps under the “Start my registration” option.

Having trouble registering your Tourist eSIM line?

If you're having issues completing the registration, get in touch with us:

    ·         Toll-free from Mexico: dial 800 8232 686 and select option 4, then option 0.

    ·         From abroad: dial +52 55 2581 3300 and select option 1.

How do I remove the registration of my Tourist eSIM line?

You can look it up and remove it easily here. Have your Telcel number and the government-issued photo ID you used during registration ready, and follow the steps under the “Check your lines” option to remove it.

    When does my plan start?

Your plan starts the moment you install your eSIM, either by scanning a QR code or using the direct download option.

When should I install my eSIM?

We recommend installing it once you arrive at your destination. All you need is a WiFi connection and to follow the setup steps on your device.

For more details, check out the activation guide for iOS or Android.

    Having trouble activating your eSIM?

It can happen for several reasons. Here are the most common ones and how to fix them:

    ·         Device compatibility. Open your dialer app and dial *#06#. If an EID code is displayed  on the screen, your device supports eSIM. If you're still not sure, check directly with your manufacturer.

    ·         Scan the QR code from your device settings. Don't use the Camera app to scan the QR code. Go directly to Settings (iPhone) or Settings (Android) and follow the step-by-step activation guide for iOS or Android.

    ·         Stay connected to a stable WiFi network during installation. Avoid using mobile data during the process — if the connection drops, the activation may not complete successfully.

    ·         Installation attempts. You can install your eSIM by scanning the QR code or using the direct download button. Once you choose either method, you'll have up to two additional attempts to reinstall it on the same device. We recommend not trying to install it on a different device

Got an error message while trying to activate your eSIM?

Before trying again, check the following:

    ·         Compatibility and unlock status. Make sure your device is eSIM compatible and unlocked to be used with other carriers. If it's locked, contact your carrier or device manufacturer for help.

    ·         WiFi connection. Make sure your device is connected to a stable WiFi network before continuing.

Once verified, try again using the direct download button or by scanning the QR code.

Can I reinstall my eSIM if I deleted it?

Yes, you can reinstall it on the same device by scanning the QR code or using the direct download button. Keep in mind that you have up to two additional attempts.

Not enough storage on your device to install your eSIM?

Delete an eSIM you no longer use by going to Settings on your iPhone or Android device, then try the installation again.

How do I delete an eSIM?

Follow the steps according to your device:

    iPhone:

    1.       Go to Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data).

    2.       Select the eSIM you want to remove.

    3.       Tap “Remove eSIM”.

    Android:

    1.       Go to Settings → Connections → SIM Manager.

    2.       Select the eSIM you want to delete.

    3.       Tap “Delete”.

Installed your eSIM but have no service?

If your eSIM is already installed but you're not getting service, try the following:

    ·         Make sure the eSIM line is enabled in your device settings.

    ·         Set it as your primary line for mobile data.

    ·         Restart your device.

If the issue persists, get in touch with us:

    ·         Toll-free from Mexico: dial 800 8232 686 and select option 4, then option 0.

    ·         From abroad: dial +52 55 2581 3300 and select option 1.

Also, make sure you're within the coverage area included in your plan — outside of it, your eSIM won't have service.

Do I need to enable data roaming to use my eSIM?

If you're only visiting Mexico, you don't need to turn it on. If you're traveling to the United States or any of the countries included in the Latin America coverage area, enable data roaming on your eSIM line to stay connected.
